DjoserDjoser - He is the first pharaoh of the Third Dynasty (although some records list him as second) and the pharaoh whose reign began the Old Kingdom of Egypt, making Djoser a very important historical figure. The Old Kingdom is distinguished by its great building projects and his pyramid at Saqqara was the first. There is a discrepancy over the time and length of his reign. It began about 2670 BC (or 2630 according to some sources). The Turin King List, written in hieratic and believed to date from about the time of Ramses the Great's reign, puts it at 19 years. But the historian, Manetho, lists it at 28. Archaeological evidence seems to support Manetho.
